Product Description
A FAMILY LEARNS IMPORTANT LIFE LESSONS FROM THEIR ADORABLE, BUT NAUGHTY AND NEUROTIC DOG.

Amazon.com
When a dog wriggles his adorable rear end into a human's life, the human will never be the same. And both Marley, the dog, and Marley & Me, the movie, manage to endear themselves deeply despite a few wee flaws. Readers of the John Grogan bestseller already know the raffish charm of the incorrigible yellow lab puppy, Marley, adopted by Grogan and his wife because she's "never seen anything more adorable in my life." But Grogan's simple tale of love, in all its forms, shines on the big screen, thanks to deft comic turns by Jennifer Aniston--in top form here--and Owen Wilson. Their chemistry is utterly natural and believable as Marley's owners, as is their interaction with the very naughty but ultimately irresistible Marley. As Marley grows up, the film follows his escapades--flunking out, spectacularly, from puppy training at the hands of a wickedly funny Kathleen Turner. And as Marley grows up, John and Jenny build their life together and weather some tough emotional blows. Like My Dog Skip, which it resembles in its affection for its subject, Marley & Me is a tear-jerker, but in the sweetest, most lovely way--because it, and its four-legged star, have wriggled into our hearts. Good boy. --A.T. Hurley

3 out of 5 stars It is a dog's life   March 14, 2010
bernie (Arlington, Texas)
The story follows newlyweds that purchase a discount dog and how it helps or hinders them through their lives.

I am sure the book it is based on is good but sitting through this movie was a waste of time. The few doggie antics were cute and of course, there were the tearjerker moments. Alan Arkin as Editor Arnie Klein did some find acting and held much of the story together. Jennifer Aniston, 40 at the time of the film is starting to look her age.

Any way if you have time and like a good depressing Hallmark type movie, this one is for you. If you are expecting one of those cute mindless Disney, type films forget it. Over all you can see they put some energy into the making of this film.

I only saw the Blu-ray version so I cannot compare however, there seems to be a missing commentary.

5 out of 5 stars Great Family Movie   March 8, 2010
Mr. Kaj-erik Eriksen (New York)
An outstanding movie for the family! It shows the struggles of a growing family, a love for an animal that a lot of the time was not very lovable, and how they make it through. If it doesn't bring a tear to your eye by the end, you weren't watching this movie. it will give you a chance to talk heart to heart to your kids about the values of life.

5 out of 5 stars great movie   March 7, 2010
Jenny (IN, USA)
I love this move. Maybe becuase the dog looks just like mine who we had to put in sleep a year ago and has a personality just like Marley. Maybe because my hubby and I went through so much similar to the charaters in the movie. I just can relate. The kids, the job, the struggling to balance between the kids/job and a crazy dog in between. Maybe it is too sad at the end, but it is life.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT SHOW... even though I cried...   March 3, 2010
Cyndy B. Mudge (Decatur, AL)
I am a dog lover so I cannot say anything bad, but Owen Wilson did a fabulous job taking this to the next level by using the dog as a member of the family taking care of him with every step in the show. I just loved it... Bow WOW!!

THis movie is amazing, they way it is telled is from when they got marley and the adventure they went threw togather. and yes this movie is a TearJearker!!!!! Be aware.
